What was the highlight of Kastara Resort
Enjoyed the nature of Ubud.
The architectural appearance of this hotel is impressive - not only the structure nestled against the mountain, but also the details and finishes of the room (ceiling height, flooring, light fitting, especially the bathroom). The room is enjoying natural forest view which is fabulous. The hotel is located within a local village where is beautiful and quiet. You can also enjoy the rural scenery through a track from the hotel to the Ubud center (only by walking).
As the hotel is situated in a local village, to follow the local policy you can't order a Grab taxi or any other ride-hailing service to pick you up from the hotel. You need to walk to a specific point somewhere out of the restrict zone to meet your Grab. This is a bit inconvenient but not a fault by the hotel.

Nice place
Nice location, Rooms look good, the bathtub on the balcony is amazing.
Being a resort I was expecting there are more facilities and things for the kids to do. The water in the pool in my opinion could have been warmer, if the sun was not up you could not stay in it. Also the spa didn’t reach our expectations. But overall it was a nice stay.

I had a wonderful time at Kastara Resort.
Kastara Resort is located in the serene surroundings of Ubud, making it a peaceful and relaxing place to stay. The infinity pool was absolutely stunning, providing breathtaking views of the lush greenery. The welcoming experience was lovely, with warm and friendly staff who made us feel at home. Our room was perfect, featuring a private top bath on the balcony with a spectacular view that added a luxurious touch. The resort also provided a driver to pick us up from another hotel, and along the way, we were taken on an impromptu coffee plantation tour, which was a delightful and informative experience. This thoughtful gesture even gave us time to do some shopping.
What Could Be Improved: While the food was decent, it didn’t leave a lasting impression and could be improved. Additionally, the policy of requiring immediate payment for meals at the restaurant felt inconvenient. After finishing dinner, I returned to my room only to receive a call 15 minutes later, claiming I hadn’t paid the bill. A staff member was sent to my room with a card machine to settle it, which felt awkward and unprofessional for a high-end resort. It’s also worth noting that you cannot book rides through apps like Grab or other taxi services in this area. While Grab can drop you off, pickups are restricted, forcing guests to use local taxis that tend to overcharge. Overall Experience: Despite a few inconveniences, I had a wonderful time at Kastara Resort. The tranquil environment, amazing infinity pool, and luxurious room made it a memorable stay. This resort is ideal for those seeking relaxation and scenic beauty in Ubud, but improvements in dining policies and food quality would elevate the experience further.
